happy photos for happy father's day

Showing off our garden and his new hat. The watermelon and squash look beautiful. Happy Father's day!

Before tie dying I had to get pictures of the girls in their matching white dresses. I'll explain more about our tie dying party later.(our clothes are still drying) They are holding the black cherries that we identified in the yard. We have tons of them. They are not very sweet but edible.

Love the hat -- now he just needs some overalls and a pitchfork to do the American Gothic thing. The concrete retaining wall on the garden bed with the greenery spilling over the top looks like a magazine picture. Beautiful! Love the white dresses and big laughs. I'm thinking cultivating the ground (compost, kelp, etc.) within the drip line of the cherry bushes over the next year might sweeten them up for next summer.

Good idea dad. Although, unlike the "sweet cherries" we had by the ton in Boone, these "black cherries" are known for being naturally bitter. But, I did eat a handful the other day and got used to them pretty quick. Who knows what all that kelp can accomplish...
